About SDGs
SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) are international goals based on the fundamental principle of "No one will be left behind," that aim to achieve a sustainable and better world by 2030.
They succeed the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) established in 2001 and are part of the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development," which was adopted unanimously by member states at the United Nations Summit in September 2015. The SDGs consist of 17 goals and 169 targets.

Given the diverse industries we serve with our equipment, we believe that the development of our own technology contributes ultimately to the prosperity, peace, and sustainability of humanity and the planet.
We aim to align our corporate actions with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), seeking to balance social issue resolution and economic growth globally from Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture. Moving forward, we are committed to achieving a sustainable society.
SDGs Action
Construction of an Environmentally Friendly New Factory
We completed the construction of a new environmentally friendly factory adjacent to our Ritto factory. (April 2023)
This new sustainable factory utilizes solar power for heating, cooling, and lighting within the facility, and also reuses rainwater as industrial water.
Additionally, we have planned the phased development of the entire area, including approximately 9,000 square meters encompassing the Ritto factory and affiliated group company premises, over multiple years.
Contributing to the Environment through Product Development
We contribute to the environment through the manufacturing of products such as wastewater treatment membranes and seawater filtration membranes, as well as film manufacturing equipment for lithium-ion batteries, a form of clean energy. Additionally, we contribute to environmental efforts with products like exhaust gas capture and CO2 separation membrane manufacturing equipment, which play a crucial role in combating global warming.
Contributing to Healthcare through Product Development
We contribute to health and welfare through the manufacturing of healthcare products, such as masks, sanitary materials, and manufacturing equipment for artificial dialysis membranes.
Implementation of Employee Health Checkups, Vaccinations, and Infectious Disease Prevention Measures
We conduct regular health checkups for employees, recommend vaccinations for preventive care, and implement measures to combat recent infectious diseases, ensuring the health of our workforce.
Implementation of Conservation Activities for the Natural Environment
We participate in activities such as supporting the Lake Biwa Museum and the National Tree Planting Festival, and we are involved in the Shiga Green Activity Network to contribute to the conservation of the local environment, including Lake Biwa.
Implementation of Educational Factory Tours for Local Children
Based on our desire to foster children who will lead the next generation and deepen their interest in manufacturing, we conduct factory tours inviting local children to learn about our operations.
Shiga Lakestars 2023-24 Season Lakes Dream Pass Sponsor Partner
ICHIKIN participates as a sponsor partner in an initiative to invite elementary and junior high school students from Shiga Prefecture to the home games of the professional basketball team Shiga Lakestars free of charge.
We support the goal of contributing to the wholesome development of youth by encouraging children to visit the game venue, fostering cross-regional interactions, and providing an opportunity to experience the powerful play of professional athletes up close.

"2025 Wata SHIGA Shining Country Sports/Disabled Sports" event to be held in 2025
We will endorse and support the 79th National Sports Festival and the 24th National Sports Festival for People with a Disability as official sponsors through participation in the cultural and artistic activities of the 2025 Wata SHIGA Shining Country Sports/Disabled Sport, thereby promoting the event while also supporting the prefecture's goal of a fully inclusive games for all prefectural residents.
With the hosting of both events, we hope to encourage each resident of Shiga to rediscover the unique appeal of our history, culture, and nature, and by sharing these aspects with people both within and outside the prefecture, we aim to revitalize the region.
